Ferry Out Of Service
Due to a Ferry breakdown this morning, UPS will miss its mainland connection today so there is no outbound UPS service as a result. All UPS shipments scheduled for departure Friday morning will now leave UPS's terminal on Monday. Mail shipments are not affected by this outage.

First Class Mail International Packages
We are experiencing difficulties with availability of First Class Mail International Package rates in the cart since the US Post Office changed their rates for this on January 22nd. We are working on it and it will be offered again as soon as the problem is resolved.

Blizzard Update
Good news! The worst of the blizzard is over. We were able to ship most mail orders yesterday and UPS is open today. We will resume UPS shipping today. All mail will ship as well. UPS orders are shipping in the order received and we expect most orders to ship this morning, the balance will ship by Friday morning. We appreciate your patience.

We're in the midst of a winter blizzard today, Wednesday, January 18th. As a result, our offices will be functioning with a skeleton staff. There will be no shipping outbound today. UPS and mail services are closed on Orcas Island. We'll update on conditions tomorrow!

Lotioncrafter offices will be open on Monday, Martin Luther King Jr Day, but US Post Offices are closed so no mail shipments will be sent. Mail orders will be shipped on Tuesday. UPS is open and we will be shipping UPS as usual.

DSL Up
Our DSL service is back up and we're operating normally! Most domestic mail orders are shipping on time today; international orders will ship on Thursday. We are experiencing a DSL outage in our area that is affecting our ISP. As a result, UPS and mail shipping are delayed today. The phone company expects to have the area DSL service back in operation by mid-day.

As a result of an update to one of our website programs, our UPS shipments are posting as having been shipped via FEDEX instead of UPS, although the tracking number is a UPS tracking number. We do not ship by FedEx, so please ignore this and know orders are shipping via UPS as always. We've got the programmer working on it!

Canada Post
Due to the Canadian Postal Workers strike, the US Postal Service has stopped accepting all services destined to Canada except Global Express Guaranteed. We are processing Canadian Mail shipments, but they will not be shipped until the strike is over. You can expect long delays once shipping resumes as there will likely be excessive delays in Canadian Customs clearance. UPS shipping to Canada is continuing, but restrictions are in effect (UPS is limiting existing customers' new business to 10% over current volume).

Power Outage
The San Juan Islands were hit with a major power outage at 11:30AM this morning. The outage is still ongoing at 2:00PM PST, but the Lotioncrafter office is now up and running on a backup generator. Our warehouse is closed for the remainder of the day. UPS shipments were dispatched this morning, but this outage has affected our ability to get some shipments mailed this afternoon. Any outstanding orders will be mailed no later than Tuesday. Thank you for your patience while full power is being restored.

The first snowfall
The first snowfall of the year started here on Orcas Island on Friday Night. Today the ground is blanketed with 4" of snow and the wind is howling. More is expected this weekend. All orders that arrived by Friday afternoon were shipped ahead of the impending storm. If UPS trucks are running Monday morning, our weekend orders will be on them! Stay tuned...

We're aware of the problem and have temporarily disabled mail options to allow orders to go through. We can still mail your order, though, so you'll need to indicate that preference if need be when choosing a UPS shipping option.

The eruption of the volcano in Iceland has led to extended delays in deliveries of parcels sent via International Mail to all northern EU countries as well as Czech Republic, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine. Please be patient as your countries work to clear the backlog of parcels created by the extensive disruption of international mail delivery services. The US Post Office does not accept or make inquiries on status of international deliveries until 30 days have passed from the date of mailing. Please contact us 30 days after shipment if your package still has not arrived.

It's not our server! We're advised the US Postal Service server that interfaces with websites to calculate postage is down and that is causing global slowdowns for many websites (we're not alone!). Hopefully it will be resolved by the Postal Service soon!
