Here are some helpful calculators and conversion utilities to assist you in your cosmetic formulating.

Percentage Calculators

When you know the percentage you want to use of a particular ingredient, and how much you want to make of something, this calculator will determine how much of the ingredient you will need.
Enter the percent you want to use, then enter the amount you want to make and click "Calculate".
What is % of ? Answer:
If you have a recipe and want to determine the percentage of use for each ingredient in it, this calculator can be used to determine this.
Enter the amount of the ingredient, then enter the batch size of the formula and click "Calculate".
is what percent of ? Answer: %
If you have a certain amount of an ingredient you want to use it at a given percent in a formula, use this calculator to calculate how much of your formula you can make with what you have (example, 10 grams used at 10% in a formula will make 100 grams of product).
Enter the amount of the ingredient you have, then enter the percent you intend to use, then click "Calculate".

Weight Conversion

Use this calculator to convert between imperial (US) ounces/pounds and metric grams/kilos weights.

Enter one of the amounts to convert from, then click "Calculate." Click "Clear" to start over.

Liquid Volume Converter

We always recommend cosmetic formulating be done by weight, not volume. But when you are working with volumetric measurements, use this calculator to convert instantly between gallons, liters, pints, cups, teaspoons, and even drops, from imperial (USA) volume and metric volume units. Note, for ease of use we have rounded off: 30ml = 1 ounce and 20 drops = 1ml (the metric equivalent, rather than the pharmaceutical standard). Since dropper openings will vary and droplet sizes are also affected by the surface tension of the fluid itself, numbers of drops are, at best, an estimate.

Choose the measure to convert from and the one to convert to, then enter the amount to convert, and click on Convert.

Dilution Calculator

This will calculate the volume of a Stock concentrate (example, Lactic Acid 90%) needed to add to a formula or another product (like a lotion base or water) to achieve another specific concentration (example, a 20% Lactic Acid solution). To use this calculator, you need to know how much you want to make, the concentration you want to have in the final product, and the concentration of the Stock solution you will be using. Enter the total amount you want to make, the concentration you want in the end product, and the concentration of the Stock solution, then click 'Calculate', and the calculator will tell you the amount of 'base' to use (water, lotion, formula etc.) and how much of the Stock solution to add to it to make the amount of product you want in the desired concentration.

The calculator doesn't need to know if you are using teaspoons, tablespoons, ounces, milliliters, grams or kilos; it is simply performing a mathematical calculation. If you are working in ounces, then the results are to be interpreted in ounces, if working in grams or milliliters, then what is displayed will be those. Do not mix and match!

Enter the total amount you want to make (oz, gram, ml, etc.)
The desired concentration you want %
The concentration of the Stock solution %
Amount of "base" to use (oz, gram, ml, etc.)
Amount of Stock solution to use (oz, gram, ml, etc.)
to make (oz, gram, ml, etc.)

Temperature Conversion

Enter a value for Fahrenheit or Celsius, then click "Calculate".

Date Conversion / Lot Number Generator

Use this Date Conversion utility to assist you in creating Lot Number labeling for your products. This enables you to create a Lot Number that you can easily identify.  For example, the first batch of product made on January 2, 2016 might be assigned this number: 1600201 (16=year, 002=day number, 01=batch number of the day). The calculator generates a sample Lot Number for you.

Enter any Date (mo day year) or Day Number (for this year) you wish to calculate. Note, today's date is always the default and is displayed automatically (unless you have had this page displayed overnight, in which case, click "Reset" to refresh the input).

Our Customers Say...
Hi Jenny,
I just had to write to you a give you a HUGE kudos!!!!!!!!!!

Not only did I place my order on Monday .. I didn't pay for it until Monday afternoon. I received it this morning ... Wednesday morning. For the record, I am 1791 miles away from you (yes, I looked it up). Truly unbelievable .. especially this time of year with the holiday rush!

You have always been .. and continue to be .. so helpful with your ingredients and products. You ship *SO* quickly! I just adore you .. your products ... your service. You have gained a customer for life!!!

I just hope that someday .. somewhere .. I can give back to you in some way. Maybe it'll be referrals? I'll be shouting from the rooftops how great you are!!

WOW. OUtstanding service.
this was my first order and i am amazed at how quick it went from ordering to processing to delivery to me.
My order was processed and shipped within just a few hours. I ordered early afternoon 12/16/2011 Friday and it was at my door before noon 12/19/2011 monday before noon. (i paid regular shipping) i have ordered my supplies from other companies and have not been so impressed. i will be ordering here from now on. thanks

I just wanted to say that from my very first time ordering from lotioncrafter in 2014 & now 2016 this company has been consistently amazing. I have never had an issue with anything at all. Every order is shipped promptly (without paying ridiculous fee) ingredient information is readily available (not hidden), quality is unquestionable, and should you need to contact someone you will get a response immediately ...only thing I could cry about is I wish they carried serecite, pigments, sci, smc taurate, ... etc so I could only order from them...which is unreasonable on my part. Truly a reputable high quality supplier

My computer chat group of soapmakers began the year after Jen began her supplier career
"Lotioncrafter". We began when only a handful of folks were both selling supplies and only a few were actually making lotion and soap at home. The industry has boomed and it's a testimonial to see Jen's supply business still at the top of the supplier list! So many have come and gone. That is because both her supplies and her technical and customer support is superior to all the rest!
Thank you!
