Here are some helpful calculators and conversion utilities to assist you in your cosmetic formulating.
Use this calculator to convert between imperial (US) ounces/pounds and metric grams/kilos weights.
Enter one of the amounts to convert from, then click "Calculate." Click "Clear" to start over.
Liquid Volume Converter
We always recommend cosmetic formulating be done by weight, not volume. But when you are working with volumetric measurements, use this calculator to convert instantly between gallons, liters, pints, cups, teaspoons, and even drops, from imperial (USA) volume and metric volume units. Note, for ease of use we have rounded off: 30ml = 1 ounce and 20 drops = 1ml (the metric equivalent, rather than the pharmaceutical standard). Since dropper openings will vary and droplet sizes are also affected by the surface tension of the fluid itself, numbers of drops are, at best, an estimate.
Choose the measure to convert from and the one to convert to,
then enter the amount to convert, and click on Convert.
This will calculate the volume of a Stock concentrate (example, Lactic Acid 90%) needed to add to a formula or another product (like a lotion base or water) to achieve another specific concentration (example, a 20% Lactic Acid solution). To use this calculator, you need to know how much you want to make, the concentration you want to have in the final product, and the concentration of the Stock solution you will be using. Enter the total amount you want to make, the concentration you want in the end product, and the concentration of the Stock solution, then click 'Calculate', and the calculator will tell you the amount of 'base' to use (water, lotion, formula etc.) and how much of the Stock solution to add to it to make the amount of product you want in the desired concentration.
The calculator doesn't need to know if you are using teaspoons, tablespoons, ounces, milliliters, grams or kilos; it is simply performing a mathematical calculation. If you are working in ounces, then the results are to be interpreted in ounces, if working in grams or milliliters, then what is displayed will be those. Do not mix and match!
Enter a value for Fahrenheit or Celsius, then click "Calculate".
Date Conversion / Lot Number Generator
Use this Date Conversion utility to assist you in creating Lot Number labeling for your products. This enables you to create a Lot Number that you can easily identify. For example, the first batch of product made on January 2, 2016 might be assigned this number: 1600201 (16=year, 002=day number, 01=batch number of the day). The calculator generates a sample Lot Number for you.
Enter any Date (mo day year) or Day Number (for this year) you wish to calculate. Note, today's date is always the default and is displayed automatically (unless you have had this page displayed overnight, in which case, click "Reset" to refresh the input).
It's Columbus Day on Monday, a Federal holiday, and post offices will be closed. Lotioncrafter's office will be open as usual, but only UPS will be shipping on Monday. We will resume US Mail shipping on Tuesday. Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian customers!

I have never been so moved to show appreciation as i am right now. i can't believe my order was so speedy; and with just the standard shipping too! i received it within 5d on the dot to Canada using USPS.
And if the service wasn't enough i must say i am completely in love with everything i ordered. I couldn't imagine the Shea Nilotica being much different from the standard shea you can get everywhere else but it's like night and day! i can't even look at my remaining shea anymore because it pales in comparison. the Shea Nilotica is so silky, never gets clumpy or grainy and goes on so smooth it felt like a spa treatment. My other favourite is the SheaAloe which at first seemed like a miss; i was expecting a thicker, more creamy feel but it's quite thin. What surprises me about it though is that even though it does not go on thick, it is incredibly incredibly moisturizing and is very readily absorbed into my thick african hair.
i'll be ordering more of the Shea Nilotica (the 5gallon bucket this time) and likely some product continers as well. Thank you once again for being awesome.
Man! I love this company!!!! The shipping is the fastest I've ever seen literally :-) this is my second time ordering and both times it only took 3 days and was processed and shipped the same day I order! I must say impressive!!!! And not only that you guys have the best unrefined Shea butter ever! So creamy and smells amazing! I cant be without, so here I am two weeks later ordering 4lbs of unrefined sweet smelling Shea & trying out the cocoa butter im sure it will be just as good. Please don't stop your amazing services!!!! Love this company, thank you from my whole family...
Thank you Jen for a quickly processed, thoughtfully packaged order.
I am having a ball formulating. I love the wide range of products and great information on your site.
Thank you for the extra goodies you tucked in. Now I know what I was missing and plan to add a few more tools!
I have been ordering from LC for a few months now and I am very pleased with the products. I was especially looking for a good preservative and Optiphen Plus has not disappointed me. I just stared a small lotion business and the preservative is great. I have had no problem. My second go to is the LC E-wax NF, this is a great emulsifier. This has not disappointed me yet. No separation at all in my lotions. Thanks for taking the guess work out of using the correct combination of emulsifiers. I will definitely a repeat customer.
Thanks for helping me in my start up small business. I LOOK FORWARD TO GROWING MY SMALL BUSINESS WITH LC
