Soap & Cosmetic Labeling
How to Follow the Rules and Regulations Explained in Plain English

by Marie Gale
Softcover, 184 pages
Third Edition, Published 2015

"So you've just developed an awesome soap or cosmetic product. You gave it out to friends and family who raved about it and urged you to put it on the market. You checked on what that would take, and that's when you hit the wall of rules and regulations. Thud! Does that mean you've hit a dead end? Absolutely not!"

So says Marie Gale, author of Soap & Cosmetic Labeling, in her book entirely devoted to the task of labeling soap and cosmetics correctly. Written to clarify and explain the basic regulations and make them easy to understand and follow, this book is a must have for anyone who is serious about selling their soaps, cosmetics, and other creations.

The Third Edition includes more pictures and diagrams to give examples of labeling options.  While the FDA's regulations haven't changed much, the FDA has updated their website and clarified some information (such as the expected way to list botanical ingredients and the option to use a listing in an online phone directory to satisy the requirements to omit the street address from the label) and this volume includes this updated information.

Additionally there is a chapter cover other non-labeling laws and regulations that could affect your business, and a checklist you can use to do a bisic check on your labels to make sure they are in compliance.

This book explains, in plain English, how to follow product labeling rules and regulations from:

  • Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act
  • Fair Product and Labeling Act
  • Uniform Weights & Measures Law
  • Uniform Packaging and Labeling Regulations State Laws

In addition, the appendixes include cosmetic color addivites and their approved uses, INCI names for common ingredients, restricted and prohibited ingredients and metric conversion charts.

Whether you're an old hand or a newcomer to the business of soap and cosmetics, you'll find the information presented here to be clear and easy to understand, and Soap & Cosmetic Labeling an excellent guide through the maze of labeling regulations.

These guys work in timely manner for sure. After I placed my order on Internet they called me in about 15 min because they had some questing about my address. They also made sure that the method of shipment would meet my needs. The little dish that I got was chipped - they sent me the replacement in no time. I haven't yet made any lotions from the ingredients I've got. I will and I'll tell you my opinion soon! Olga

I just received the L-Ascorbic Acid now, boy, it melted so quickly. i'm very, very pleased with this product. I wish I'd listened to the testimonials on-line so that my other L-Ascorbic Acid I bought from another retailer wouldn't be wasted. It takes too long before it melts even if its a fine powder. It is good for drinking with beverage as a Vitamin C supplement, but if you use it for facial serum - forget about it because the melting takes forever unless you mix it with hot water, then what's the point of doing it - we all know that Vitamin C oxides with hot temperatures.
So folks, if you want Vitamin C Serum, Lotioncrafter is the best, not to mention about their fast shipping!

I have been ordering from LC for a few months now and I am very pleased with the products. I was especially looking for a good preservative and Optiphen Plus has not disappointed me. I just stared a small lotion business and the preservative is great. I have had no problem. My second go to is the LC E-wax NF, this is a great emulsifier. This has not disappointed me yet. No separation at all in my lotions. Thanks for taking the guess work out of using the correct combination of emulsifiers. I will definitely a repeat customer.
Thanks for helping me in my start up small business. I LOOK FORWARD TO GROWING MY SMALL BUSINESS WITH LC
